Crisis Shelter
In an Immediate Crisis & Don’t Know What to Do?
Who We Serve
We serve youth under the age of 18 by providing a safe and supportive environment during times of need. The length of stay depends on the individual situation, as we strive to accommodate the needs of our community and ensure safety. During their stay, residents are encouraged to engage in various groups, activities, and life skills sessions. Given the program’s indefinite duration, all youth have the chance to earn rewards for demonstrating positive behaviors.
Before residents leave the facility, both they and their families receive resources and a personalized safety plan, ensuring a smooth transition and ongoing support beyond their time at the center. At YCC, we are committed to providing a nurturing and stable environment where youth can develop the skills necessary for a brighter future.
Reasons Youth Come to Our Facility
Youth come to our Crisis Shelter for various reasons, including homelessness, running away, behavior challenges, and being/feeling out of control at times. Family disturbances and conflicts, as well as experiences of abuse, neglect, or abandonment, also bring youth to our facility. Additionally, placement difficulties and non-violent behavior disruptions or challenges are common reasons for seeking shelter and support at our center.
- Non-violent youth awaiting court or placement
- Youth in protective custody or danger of abuse, neglect, or abandonment
- Youth unable to stay in the home/community without endangering themselves/others
- Youth in need of crisis stabilization or behavioral support
- Non-violent children who need an alternative to secure detention
